Alvin Kamara calls out report over looming NFL suspension

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara disputed a report that said he was bracing for a six-game suspension this season.

The New Orleans Saints are preparing to bounce back this upcoming season after missing the playoffs this past year. Their chances are automatically better when running back Alvin Kamara is on the field. But there is the possibility that he could miss time at some point this upcoming season.

A league source told Pro Football Talk that running back Alvin Kamara was “bracing for a suspension of at least six weeks” for the 2022 season under the personal conduct policy, stemming from his arrest on Pro Bowl weekend in Las Vegas.

Kamara has since responded to the report on Twitter, which you can read below:

Alvin Kamara refutes report that he’s facing six-week suspension

The incident in question occurred over Pro Bowl weekend, where he was involved in a fight at a nightclub. He was arrested following the game in question at Allegiant Stadium, where he was booked on “battery resulting in substantial bodily harm” charges, which is a felony. Kamara was released on $5,000 bond.

Kamara is scheduled to have a hearing regarding the battery charges on Aug. 1.

This past season, Kamara ran for 898 yards and four touchdowns on 240 carries, while catching 47 passes for 439 yards and five touchdowns on 67 targets.

The Saints are entering this season without Sean Payton as head coach, who retired this offseason. Replacing him is defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. Now, Saints fans will have to wait and see if the team’s star running back will indeed be missing time this season due to suspension.

Kamara decided to dispute the report of him preparing for a minimum six-week suspension by the league on Twitter.
