Padres contract offer for Aaron Judge revealed, and it was massive

The San Diego Padres aren’t messing around this year as they reportedly offered star Aaron Judge a massive contract in their meeting on Tuesday.

The San Diego Padres continue to stun the baseball world as they aim for big stars. They started the regular season with Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Joe Musgrove already on the roster (though Tatis wasn’t able to play due to injury and suspension). At the deadline, they managed to land Juan Soto, which was the biggest trade this season.

Now, it’s shared that they went after Aaron Judge this offseason with a massive 10-year offer worth $400 million, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Judge ultimately re-signed with the New York Yankees, as announced on Wednesday, but the fact that the Padres pushed so hard for him alongside the other big moves they’ve made this year shows they’re working extremely hard to be contenders.

They also reportedly made a massive offer to Trea Turner that was turned down. Their priorities are in the right place.

They’re willing to spend, which is setting them apart on the market.

The Padres are aiming to become a star-studded team

The Padres have been living in the shadows of the Los Angeles Dodgers for quite some time, but that seems to be coming to an end as they’re essentially following their lead.

The Dodgers are known to sign big. They landed Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts over the past few seasons, just to name a few. The Padres have caught on that if they want to be competitive and have a legitimate shot at standing out as contenders, they need to do the same.

This year, in particular, has been a massive breakthrough for them as they’re becoming big spenders and have landed a few stars already. Though they missed out on Turner and Judge, it wouldn’t be surprising if they kept chasing after the remaining stars and landed one.
