Teen killed by half naked man driving stolen SUV in West Philadelphia, police say

A 16-year-old died after he was hit by a stolen SUV driven by a man who was naked from the waist down in West Philadelphia on Wednesday night, police said.

The teen, identified as James Saunders, was dragged 100 feet after he was struck by the Toyota Highlander near the corner of Parrish and 44th streets at 11 p.m., 6ABC reported. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The 27-year-old driver also struck a 20-year-old man, who is hospitalized with a broken ankle, FOX29 reported.

Police found the driver after he crashed the SUV into three cars near Reno Street. Investigators said the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol and are waiting on the results of a toxicology report. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The SUV was stolen from Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County less than an hour before the incident, police said.

No charges had been filed as of Thursday morning, NBC10 reports.
